Thank you for considering driving lessons with us.
Booking your first lesson
Once you’re happy to arrange lessons, click the ‘Book Lessons’ button at the top of the screen.
We’ll ask you for some basic details from you like your name, address and a contact number. You’ll also be able to specify when you’d like your lessons, for example in the evening, at weekends or during weekdays.
One of our instructors will then call you to introduce themselves and to talk to you about your driving lessons. This will also give you the chance to tell us about whether you’ve driven before, or to ask us any questions about learning to drive.
Your instructor will then agree with you a date and time for your first lesson, which will fit entirely around your availability.
We’ll then send you an email confirming the date and time of your first lesson, along with any other info that you need to know.
What to expect on your first lesson
If you’ve never driven before then your first lesson is likely to be a two hour lesson.
This will ensure that you have enough time to learn all about your driver safety checks, to get used to the main controls of the car, and then to take control of the car with your instructor so that you’re driving within your first lesson!
If you have driven previously, we’ll probably suggest an hour or an hour and a half for your first lesson with us.
This will allow you to get used to the car and your instructor, and give us the chance to see what you can do and start to work on getting you ready for your driving test.
What happens when we pick you up?
Your instructor will pick you up and will drive for a few minutes to a suitable area for your first lesson.
They will use this time to get to know a bit about you and ask how you’re feeling about your lesson.
They’ll also tell you a bit about themselves, and the car. They’ll show you the dual-controls that the car has been fitted with and explain to you how they may use these to help you as you build your confidence in the car.
This is a great opportunity to talk to your instructor about how you’re feeling and ask them any questions that you may have.
Before you start the engine
At the start of this first lesson, your instructor will ask to see your provisional driving licence. Tell us in advance if you DO NOT have this, and we’ll advice you on how to apply for it.
Your instructor will also ask you to read a number plate from a short distance – about 20 metres. This is simply to be sure that your eyesight (with glasses or contact lenses) is good enough to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
Should you be unable to read the number plate at this distance, don’t worry. Your instructor will talk to you about what to do next so that you can enjoy learning to drive safely.
We hope we have given you an insight on what you can expect on your first lesson with us.
